Arsenal 0 Liverpool 2

The Reds travelled down to the Emirates knowing that they had never won there in any competition - until today. All the talk before the game was about Arsenal in turmoil and how this would be the best time to face Arsenal. You do have to make that count as well though and that's what we did.

There were two changes made in the side with Martin Kelly replacing John Flanagan at right back whilst Dirk Kuyt replaced Suarez up top.

Arsenal got the game started with Samir Nasri starting for the Gunners despite being on the verge of a move to Man City.

Just a minute in to the game and Frimpong earned a warning from the ref after he took Agger down as he looked to charge forward.

It was a fast start to the game with the Reds looking to go at Arsenal early on but the home side reacted with their own pace.

On seven minutes Frimpong saw yellow when he squared up to Henderson trying to get a throw in that had been flagged for the Reds. Having been warned after a minute it wasn't really surprising.

On thirteen minutes the home side were dealt a blow when Koscielny pulled up with no player near him. After treatment he struggled to his feet and clearly was never going to carry on. They sent youngster Miquel on in his place as they had no other player with any experience at the back.

On nineteen minutes the Reds had a great chance as Carroll headed superbly on goal only for the keeper to save well and push the ball for a corner. The corner was half cleared by Arsenal and then Kuyt shot just over the bar.

Three minutes later and the Reds broke forward again and Henderson met a Kuyt cross but couldn't quite power it past the Arsenal keeper.

The Reds were starting to really take full control of the game now and the five man midfield supporting Carroll well was clearly working.

Andy Carroll was booked on twenty seven minutes after he kicked the ball in to the net well after being flagged for offside and fully aware of it too. It's a soft booking but he has to know better.

Jose Reina was finally called in to the action after half an hour when he tipped a Frimpong shot around the post and the Reds cleared the corner well.

Arsenal did start to have a go just before half time which did finally wake the home crowd up and push the Reds back a bit. Lucas was booked on forty four minutes when he brought Frimpong down as he was shaping to shoot.

Three added minutes were added at the end of the half due to the injury stoppage. However the Ref blew for time and the sides went off. The Reds were the classier side but we needed to really make it count in the second half.

Neither side made changes at half time and the Reds got the game started again with Charlie Adam going for goal straight away - the second time in this game alone - clearly going for the Alonso tag.

The rain was falling for the second half which was giving an extra zip to the pitch.

On fifty three minutes the Reds went really close to opening the scoring when Carroll set Kelly up but hos shot crashed off the outside of the post and behind for a goal kick.

As the time went on the game started to balance up a lot more. The Reds clearly had much pace but were failing to really support Carroll much up front.

On sixty eight minutes Arsenal really should have scored when Arshavin pushed Kelly off the ball and when no free kick was given he crossed to Van Persie and Reina somehow smothered the ball out for a corner.

Just as Arsenal were upping the pace they were reduced to ten men when Frimpong was rightly shown a yellow card for a studs showing tackle on Lucas. He had been playing well in their midfield but he was showing inexperience with some of his tackles.

The Reds made a double switch at this point with Suarez replacing Carroll and Meireles replacing Kuyt. Arsenal also made a change with Lansbury replacing Arshavin. Lucas was also thankfully ok after the challenge had caught him on the shin.

On seventy three minutes Enrique played Suarez in but he couldn't quite ease it under the keeper but the Reds were now playing football higher up the pitch again. A minute later and Downing was played behind the full back but his shot was parried away for a corner which the Reds couldn't make anything of.

Suddenly the Reds managed to finally beat the keeper and it was Aaron Ramsey who managed to beat him as Miquel tried to prevent Suarez getting in but his clearance hit Ramsey and looped in to the back of the net.

Arsenal made their final switch on eighty minutes when Bendtner replaced Walcott as they now had to push harder for an equaliser.

The game was put to bed as the clock hit ninety and Suarez swept the ball in to the back of the net. The Reds split Arsenal wide open and Lucas fed Meireles who squared it for Suarez to stroke home with ease.

With the clock ticking down the sining of You'll Never Walk Alone reverberated around the Emirates. A first ever win down at the Arsenal ground was well deserved and when the final whistle blew the home fans showed they weren't happy with their side.

Overall this was a deserved win from the Reds and before the game you had hope to take advantage of Arsenal's problems but you have to do it on the day. The two subs really helped make a difference to the game for us and once the first went in we never looked like doing anything other than winning.

MotM : Jose Enrique - looked really solid at the back but also attacked really well.
