The Reds finished their pre-season routine with a win over Valencia. In a much more polished performance than earlier games the Reds played well and also finally managed to keep a claen sheet.
The game was only six minutes old when Andy Carroll pounced on a poor back pass and despite his first shot hitting the keeper he followed up and tucked the ball into the Anfield Road end net.
The down side for the Reds at this point was that Glen Johnson limped off with a hamstring injury. He was replaced by Martin Kelly.
The Reds continued to look sharper than the Spanish side throughout the game but couldn't add to the score.
Lucas and Robinson were introduced at half time. This was the first appearance of pre-season for Lucas which was a good run out for him.
After a raft of switches throughout the second half the game was given an extra goal for the Reds which saw a Joe Cole free kick eventually poked home by Soto Kyrgiakos.
Sadly from a getting ready for the season side of things many Reds now go away on international duty before the season starts for real at home to Sunderland.
