The Reds continued their pre-season tour of Asia with a 6-3 win over a Malaysia XI. The Reds again played two different sides in each half of the match and looked more cohesive in the second of the two although were close to being pegged back at one point when the score went 4-3.
Charlie Adam scored the Reds' first goal in the first half. It came from the penalty spot after Andy Carroll had been pushed in the area as he tried to get on to a long ball to the box.
The Malaysia side hit back well in the first half and hit a great free kick to equalise.
In the second half a fresh Reds side took to the pitch and they scored five more goals - thanks to David Ngog 2, Maxi 2 and Kuyt.
David Ngog got his first on sixty eight minutes when he poked home an Insua cross which arrived to him luckily after the first clearance hit his team mate and fell to Ngog.
Two minutes later and Ngog scored his second goal when he lashed a good shot home from just inside the box after an impressive Aquilani found him.
Five minutes later and Maxi scored at the back post from an Insua cross from the left.
As the game entered the final minute and the home side had got the score back to 4-3 the Reds scored another two.
Dirk Kuyt set up Maxi for the fifth which he headed home and then Kuyt was set up by Aquilani in a similar way to Ngog and the Dutchman struck home as well.
It sent a huge 85000 crowd home very happy indeed at having seen their idols in the flesh.
