The Reds got pre-season started with a 4-3 win in their first match. Guangdong Sunray Cave came close to a dramatic late equaliser but left it just too late. Going in to the 90th minute the Reds were actually 4-1 up but conceded twice late on.
The Reds fielded two sides in the game and it took them just 18 minutes to score their first goal through Christian Poulsen who volleyed in at the back post from a Cole cross.
Just three minutes later and David Ngog was played in behind the line by Jonjo Shelvey and the French striker slotted home under the keeper.
In first half injury time the Reds conceded a goal when Steer managed to get himself in front of Gulacsi to head home a cross from their left wing.
A new side came out for the second half which saw a first appearance in a first team shirt for Charlie Adam. Conor Coady, Jack Robinson and Andre Wisdom all made the step up tot he side as well and forme U18s captain Coady even managed to get on the score sheet.
The 40,000 strong crowd were enjoying seeing the Reds in China for the first time and despite the heat the Reds played well given it was their first run out.
Coady got the Reds' third goal on 72 minutes when he got on to a pass from Carroll and sent a great shot in to the top corner.
Five minutes from time the Reds extended the lead to 4-1 when Carroll scored after some poor defending.
The home side didn't give up though and they scored twice past Martin Hansen in the final minute.
