Liverpool 0 Swansea City 0

The Reds played out a nil nil draw at home with Swansea City and that's about all we deserved from the match. I'd like to think we battered them throughout but that would be a lie and we looked more argumentative with each other than a team trying to score.

The sides took to the side and the Reds were unchanged. A huge poppy was taken to the centre spot prior to kick off and a minute's silence was observed in remembrance of those to have fallen in conflicts over many years.

The Reds kicked off attacking the Kop in the first half after Jose Reina lost the toss.

Swansea started the game well and were looking to get the ball down to play football. We also seemed to start ok in the game and look to attack from the off.

After just six minutes it could have been a great start for the Reds as well as Downing linked up with Enrique to put a great cross in and Carroll met it perfectly only for it to smash out off the bar. Not like us to hit the woodwork eh!

As the game settled down Swansea started to gain more control of the game for me. It also saw them dominate midfield a bit more and that stretched us. Charlie Adam picked up a yellow card when he took his man down - a second foul in quick succession.

The Swansea keeper was making sure he took as much time as possible at every goal kick. Phil Dowd the ref warned him a couple of times but basically did nothing really.

The Reds by now were starting to struggle a bit to really get going. There were a few niggles between players and Suarez and Carroll were getting isolated which just didn't help at all.

The best thing about Swansea from our point of view though was that when they saw the goal the blazed over it or this could have been really embarrassing.

Suarez did get a shot away which went just wide after Agger had strode forward to start an attack. Just before the half hour mark he got another shot away but the keeper pulled off a save.

Half time came and the Reds made a switch with Kuyt replacing Henderson. There was no obvious injury so this must have been tactical and I have to say it was the right move. Henderson had started on the right but rarely turned up there in the first half which hindered the width on that side too much.

The second half took a similar style to the first with the Reds players regularly questioning each other and looking below par.

Neil Taylor picked up a booking when he took out Glen Johnson and from the free kick Suarez headed goalwards off Adam's ball but it was easily stopped by Vorm.

The Reds were struggling though and we needed a switch to our play and with players like Bellamy and Maxi on the bench the options were there but Kenny was too slow to inject the new blood.

Daniel Agger picked up a yellow card on sixty six minutes when he hacked Routledge down in full flight. The scary thing for the Reds all game was how well their wingers played and they had some great pace about them.

It was only after this that the Reds started to warm Bellamy up for the action and it took until seventy four minutes before he arrived and for me it was ten minutes too late. He arrived though in place of Andy Carroll rather the the rather quiet Downing which was a surprise to many of us in the stand.

As the clock ticked on the Reds finally started to get a few more chances but in truth it could easily have gone pear shaped at the other end as well.

Agger headed over the bar with just over ten minutes to go as we started to threaten at long last.

A couple of minutes later and Williams got booked as he hacked Suarez down on the edge of the box but Adam hit the wall with his free kick as he gambled on them all jumping up.

With three minutes to go we finally did get the ball past Vorm only to see the linesman with her flag up and having see the replay it was spot on as Kuyt was marginally in front of his man.

There was still time to test the keeper though. First of all he pushed a Suarez shot wide of the goal and then with a minute to go he tipped a Johnson shot over the bar.

This keeper has played against us three times now and he has left with three clean sheets and three nil nil draws so I can only hope he's left Swansea for the return fixture.

Finally the ref blew the final whistle and the Reds were left with a point from the match. Fair play to Swansea who came and played a good match here and they deserved something for that. One surprise for me was that actually we had more possession - it never felt like that in the game.

MotM : Glen Johnson - very hard choice but Johnson defended well when he had to and nearly scored near the end and didn't get involved in the bickering between players.
