Liverpool 3 Arsenal 0

The Reds won this one with ease but it was only after they opened the scoring that Arsenal fell away a bit.

Arsenal started well in this one but on a cold night it was Ian Rush who warmed the crowd up with a great shot which flew in just after the half hour.

Before that Meade had raced clear and rounded Grobbelaar only for Alan Kennedy to get back and block the shot to goal.

Rush hit the post in the second half before the lead was doubled. Dalglish opened up the Gunners defence which allowed Phil Neal to slot home frm close range.

Dalglish then saw an effort well saved by Lukic. Ian Rush won a penalty which he got up and took only to miss. Ronnie Whelan though completed the scoring with a couple of minutes to go.
