Liverpool 6 West Ham United 0

The Reds routed West Ham at Anfield. John Wark made his Anfield debut in this one. Before the match the League cup was paraded in front of the fans.

It took just five minutes for the Reds to open the scoring as Kenny Dalglish crossed for Ian Rush to head home. Dalglish himself then grabbed the second as he shot through a crowd of players. Dalglish then set Rush up again for the third goal of the night.

The game was still only half an hour old when Ronnie Whelan made it 4-0. He finished off a fine passing move from the Reds.

Graeme Souness got the other two goals with the assists coming from Ian Rush on both occasions. It could easily have been a bigger score on the night but 6-0 was more than enough to worry the on looking Dinamo Bucharest team who were at Anfield ahead of the European Cup match.
