Middlesbrough 2 Liverpool 2

This was a case of a point dropped at Boro. The Reds stormed in to a two goal lead thanks to goals from Billy Liddell. His first rocketed in off the crossbar whist his second was more opportunist following defensive problems for Boro.

However in the second half Fenton scored after sixty seven minutes and it gave the home side hope. Boro were unbeaten at home at this point and they piled on the pressure. Dews hit the equaliser for Boro to equal out the points. Both sides had chances to win the game with Willie Fagan having hit the woodwork late on.
