Sheffield United 0 Liverpool 1

The Reds had to endure a really tough match at Bramall Lane but managed to take maximum points. United were by far the better side in this one but came up against an inspired display from Cyril Sidlow.

One goal is all it took in the end for the Reds to take the points and it came in the final minute of the match. By this time United were tiring. Nieuwenhuys crossed the ball and debutant Len Carney headed home to secure the victory.
