Steven Gerrard captained England in their opening European Championship match with France. Gerrard played in the free kick which led to the England goal in the game which ended 1-1.
Glen Johnson played the whole match at right back whilst Jordan Henderson came on for a second half sub in the match.
Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing were left on the bench whilst Martin Kelly was left back at the team hotel suffering sickness.
The French had Alou Diarra in their side throughout - Diarra being a former Red who once played in one friendly for the Reds before going out on loan.
In the second game of the day former Reds striker Andriy Voronin played his part in the Ukraine beating Sweden 2-1.
In a world cup qualifier over the weekend Sebastien Coates scored as Uruguay beat Peru 4-2. The goal was initially awarded to Reds striker Luis Suarez but later changed to Coates who got a touch on the ball on its way in.
