It was Roger Hunt who was the closest to the infamous 'over the line' shot from Geoff Hurst. One of his most famous goals came at Anfield again Inter Milan in european competition in 1965. On a night of superb atmosphere Hunt blasted a shot into the net to stun the Milan side who Shankly had tried to psyche out the game. Roger stayed with the club until 1969 when he moved on to Bolton Wanderers but the great man will always be remembered at Liverpool for his many glorius goals and all round play. Today Hunt is still Liverpools all time highest league scorer with 245 goals. he also had 40 other goals in his first team career with 17 of them coming via Europe.
