The LFC Official Hall of Fame

Alan A'Court

Born in Rainhill he went to school in Prescot and played amateur football there. He then joined the Reds in 1952 and was a fast left winger throughout the decade and on a number of occasion ended up in the crowd, such was his determination to reach and cross balls. In total he played 382 times for the Reds and scored 63 goals.

Despite playing much of his football for the Reds in the second division he still managed to go to the world cup with England in 1958. His career with the Reds saw them relegated just after his arrival but he was also present in getting the Reds back up following Shanks' arrival. His career though suffered following an injury and the emergence of Peter Thompson and Ian Callaghan. That pairing prevented his appearances in the championship season and he soon moved on to join Tranmere but not after he was a member of the first Reds European side in Reykjavik.
